While set in South Africa, I can see this book starting a global movement. One in which people step out of hiding behind the comfort of their own discomfort and neediness, to one in which they discover their unique gifts, dreams and personal power. I can see a movement where people share their inspirational stories of self-ideation with the world.
Andile, your story is not only a great guide for young people, but also contains really important leadership lessons that should be shared. (Dr Allistair Witten – Director, LeadershipLab SA)
Andile, thank you so much for sharing your manuscript with me. It has been an honour to sit with your story. I read it carefully and with deep respect for the vulnerability and courage it took to put these experiences into words.
Overall, I think your book has immense power. The combination of your personal narrative and the UNSTUCK model is compelling, and I can see how it will resonate with many readers. Your honesty, the rhythm of the reflection invitations, and the clarity of the framework are real strengths. (Zineb Mouhyi – co-founder of YouthxYouth & the Weaving Lab)
Bhuti, your book must be used in narrative therapy. It fits very well with reframing narrative therapy. Victims of trauma, abuse, etc. sometimes get to be stuck in the original story. This book offers a guided process in rewriting your story. Even though there are many people who overcame their painful stories (poverty, trauma, etc.) we still see many falling into the hole. This book changes the mindset and outcomes. (Theophilus Mzimkhulu Oldjohn – Clinical Psychologist)
Firstly, congratulations on this incredible milestone, Coach Andile – putting your life and journey into words.
I deeply admire how you’ve shown that men cry too and challenged the Xhosa saying, “indoda ayikhali” – proving that it has only taught boy children to suppress their emotions.
You’ve reminded us that we are not our circumstances and that the way we enter this world is simply part of God’s plan. While questioning your own existence, you discovered your true purpose.
You’ve changed the narrative and are now sharing with the world that we are all here for a reason. This book is for anyone who has ever felt incomplete, searching for that missing piece to feel whole again. (Aviwe Melane – Mindset Coach & Author)
Bhut’ Andy is my first encounter of a mindful, articulate and so-freely-loving elder. To read that he was born mindful, which I personally consider to be a spiritual anointing considering how rare it is to meet a human of any age that has mastered the art, makes the book even more “unputdownable.” This is a story we all have lived, one chapter or the other. Bhut’ Andy is just brave enough to model the misunderstood gift of vulnerability, and this is why I deem him a powerhouse. Camagu Gwashu! Wena uxhentsa ikatala ingekakhali! (Zizipho Mapipa – LLB holder trying hard at life)
